Week of the Young Child Presenter notes:
Scientist Presentation Monday / Presenter: Amanda Cook
Hi ACCC families! I’m a space instrument scientist at NASA Ames (VIPER Mission), and the mother of Chloe Lewis, in the Vanguard Room. I will be visiting the classrooms to talk to the kids a little bit about space, and the moon in particular. I have planned a couple of demos: one about “the vacuum of space” (ask your kids about the marshmallows!) and another about the phases of the moon.
Veterinarian Presentation Friday / Presenter: Kendall Younger
My name is Kendall Younger, mom to Remy Vaughan (Apollo), and Rhys Vaughan (Voyager). I graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and have been working in the Bay Area since 2012 at a large multi-doctor small animal hospital. I treat dogs and cats for all general medicine and surgery needs. I love working with pet owners and their beloved family members and educating people about animal health and welfare. General practice allows me to develop lasting relationships with pets and their owners from their first puppy or kitten shots to their golden years. We have one dog (Lilah, a very tolerant golden retriever who loves her ball), 2 cats (Fiona and Joey), and several fish at our home. Being a veterinarian is a really rewarding career and I’m excited to share about it with the ACCC students!
